Principles for the Funding From September 2013, all primary schools across England have received a share of the Governments £150m pa Primary Physical Education and Sports Premium. The funding is ring-fenced and must be spent on improving the provision and quality of PE and sport in primary schools so that pupils develop healthy lifestyles.
PE at Wroxton Physical Education (PE) is an integral part of the curriculum at Wroxtron. As well as providing high quality excise, we believe PE boosts confidence in children and breaks down barriers, creates long lasting memories, builds teamwork and helps to bring the children together which creates a real sense of community. Aims To promote a healthy and active lifestyle. To deliver two hours of quality PE each week to every pupil. To offer children the opportunity to learn a range of skills across a variety of sports. To increase children's participation and engagement in sports and PE. To provide children the opportunity to take part in competitive sports within school, externally between local schools and at county level.
Special Events Throughout the year, we hold a number of PE focused events where we raise the profile of the subject. .
We run charity sports event supporting a range of different charities. This year we will be raising money for a local charity close to many of our school community, The Katharine House Hospice, where we will be holding a Santa Fun Run on the field. Every child will donate £1 to take part as well as collecting sponsporship money to take on an exciting obstacle race. Towards the end of the year, we hold our annual sports day which includes all children in the school winning points for their houses. It is always a very inclusive event that showcases the strong community feel we have at Wroxton with a focus given to our values as well as succeeding in the various events.
NOSSP Festivals and Tournaments At various times throughout the year, different children from across the school are chosen to participate in festivals and tournaments with children from other schools in Banbury. We aim to ensure that children have the opportunity to represent the school at a minimum of one event by the end of their key stage. These events are always very popular and children enjoy attending them and participating in healthy competition.
