My name is Mrs Jennings.
Since graduating as a teacher in 1995, I have held different roles in both the education and training sectors. I have taught in Middle, Junior, Primary and Nursery schools across Surrey, Oxfordshire and London. Through my work with all age groups - from babies to adults - I have discovered my true passion is Early Years. When I'm not at school, I like spending time with my teenage children and enjoy country walks and trips to the theatre. |

Phonics is taught daily in groups, working on a specific set of sounds according to the ability of the child. Each session has a distinct structure following Read Write Inc (RWI). The children take home sound cards, Ditty sheets or a RWI book each week to re-read and develop fluency.

Our Book Focus Our key texts, this term, are related to our "One Small Step" project. We will explore Astro Girl by Ken Wilson Max then write astronaut commands, how to guides and fact files. We will use Beegu by Alexis Deacan to investigate alien and real words and create definitons for a dictionary. We will then compose character descriptions for our own aliens. Reception, on a Thursday with Mrs Blunden, will be using Here Come the Aliens by Colin McNaughton. Our daily story time will enable the class to explore stories and factual texts linked to space. |
