Animal features

Last week Eagles identified features of animals, compared animals and explained why animals have certain features. We played 20 (feature) questions to identify the animals on our headbands  Year 1s then labelled features on photographs whilst Reception matched the animal to its integument (skin, fur, scales) and sourced its name. In our second lesson we solved riddles, identified similarities and differences in the toy animals we had chosen before the year 1s wrote a written comparison of two seemingly contrasting animals. Finally we discussed characteristics questions such as; why do chameleons change colour? Why do polar bears have thick white fur?
