The Prophet Jeremiah supports our school community because his life is full of lessons about courage, trust in God, and standing up for what's right, even when it’s hard. Who Was Jeremiah? Jeremiah was a prophet, which means he was chosen by God to deliver important messages to His people. Jeremiah lived a long time ago, around 600 years before Jesus was born. He is often called "the weeping prophet" because he was sad when the people didn’t listen to God and continued to make bad choices. God called Jeremiah to be a prophet when he was still a young man. At first, Jeremiah was nervous. He said, “I’m too young, and I don’t know what to say!” But God told him not to worry. He promised to give Jeremiah the words to speak and protect him. Jeremiah warned the people of Israel that they needed to stop worshipping idols (fake gods) and start following the one true God again. Sadly, many people didn’t listen, and they made fun of Jeremiah or got angry with him. But Jeremiah didn’t give up because he loved God and was full of compassion. Sometimes doing the right thing is hard, but it’s always worth it. Even though Jeremiah warned about bad things, he also shared hope. He told the people that God loved them and would never abandon them. One of Jeremiah’s most famous messages is part of our vision; For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to give you hope and a future.”** (Jeremiah 29:11)
God has a good plan for your life, even when things seem difficult. Remember you are never too young to make a difference and that God is always with you.
