I am the teacher of the Fabulous Foxes and I look forward to seeing them flourish this year. It is an immese priviledge to support and inspire the children throughout the school.  I love books and cannot wait to share some of my favourites and read your recommendations.

In the morning the people of the island found a man sitting on the shore, there where fate and the ocean currents had set him and his frail raft in the night. When he saw them coming towards him, he rose to his feet.

He was not like them.

Our main text this term is The Island by Armin Greder.  It is a powerful picture book that explores the themes of refugees, xenophobia, multiculturalism, social politics and human rights. We will be writing a formal letter, character descriptions and a sequel.

Class story
From the best-selling author of Cosmic and Millions comes an evocative immigration tale about two brothers trying to survive-- a daring story that miraculously defies belief.
When two Mongolian brothers inexplicably appear one morning in Julie's class, no one, least of all Julie, knows what to do with them. But when Chingis, the older of the two brothers, proclaims Julie as their "Good Guide" -- a nomadic tradition of welcoming strangers to a new land -- Julie must somehow navigate them through soccer, school uniforms, and British slang, all while trying to win Shocky's attention and perhaps also an invitation to her friend Mimi's house. A unique story of immigration both fierce in its telling and magical in its characters.
